Solar-Powered Lighting And The Flag Company Inc

By Don Slow

Taking care of the environment is a responsibility that everyone should feel accountable for. Most of us are already aware of environmentally friendly processes such as recycling to minimize the amount of waste we produce and reduce our carbon footprint. However, a lot of people are unaware of new and upcoming technologies that we can use to help reduce carbon emissions. A good example of this is lighting, which provides many environmental advantages.

So if most energy is from the sun, what do we mean then when we say “solar energy technology”? Well, solar energy technologies are those that turn sunlight directly into useful energy, like electricity. Solar energy options cut out the middle-man, or the middle millions of years, as the case may be.

Solar electric lighting systems do in fact connect to a truly "infinite" power source - the sun. However, as we all know, this source is intermittent. In the case of solar outdoor lighting, the power source is inversely related to the load (the lights turn on when the sun goes down). This relationship leads to an important conclusion; the system must rely on energy storage (e.g. batteries) unless it remains connected to the grid.

The innovation and improvements in solar energy technologies continue to be exciting and are probably well beyond what Edmond Becquerel ever thought possible when he proposed how to turn sunlight into electricity more than a century and a half ago. Even with all the improvements we’ve made over the years, much of the solar power used around the world still employs the same basic concept Becquerel discovered. We’ve simply made it cheaper and more efficient to install solar panels, which is why the use of solar power is spreading so fast.

Recently new technology has given us solar powered flagpole lightings. These lightings have proved to be the best solutions for flagpoles. Solar panel manufacturers are now playing a key role in the solar power industry.

However, there is a barrage of cheap solar powered lightings being imported and sold, that do not comply with the flag statute. This is bad for a number of reasons. Imported stuff is cheaply made and more importantly, the designs, materials, colors, and methods do not compare well with the better quality, longer-lasting, and correctly designed flagpole lightings made by American manufacturers. The Flag Company Inc specialized in flags and flagpole lightings offered a special edition of solar powered flagpole lightings to provide innovative solutions for individual projects.
