How To Choose Feng Shui Classes

By Marci Glover

Feng shui is both an art and a science. The philosophy was first developed in China over 3000 years ago. However the principles behind it have remained influential for centuries. If you are interested in learning how to improve the energy of your room or you wish to learn how to teach others then it is worth looking for feng shui classes in your local area.

The term feng shui refers to wind and water. In China these are associated with health and fortune with a good flow being beneficial and a bad flow being negative, in much the same way as water can wash you but can also cause floods. They also represent energy in a more metaphorical sense and how a room feels will often affect people in subtle ways they may not always instantly recognise.

Therefore it is important to get an idea of how this works. People who analyse the room use a compass and a bagua. A bagua is an energy map that uses symbols to show where to focus the energy in the room. This could mean you need to change the colours or slightly adjust the position of the furniture in order to create a more positive energy.

It should be stated there is not one universal form of feng shui. There are different schools of thought regarding the energy in a room and the most effective way to help people. Therefore this equally means there are a number of different schools and various ways that someone could potentially teach their students.

This is the basic level of how the process works. As with a lot of philosophical theories there are different schools of thought. This also means there are different methods in which this process can be taught to people. Unfortunately this can make it harder to compare the different options available.

Going to an open day or lecture is also a good chance to talk to the instructor. Find out a bit more about their background and their experience. If they are willing to discuss their work with you this is often a good sign as it shows they are willing to engage people about the work they do.

It is also a good opportunity to talk to an instructor. It helps to ask questions and find out about their background. They should be willing to discuss their experience and their thoughts regarding feng shui. The best teachers will often be passionate and more than willing to engage with you about the subject. They should also be able to provide testimonials from people who have attended their classes in their past and give you the chance to contact them.

On a basic level you should compare at least three possible options. This will allow you to look at a number of factors such as their experience and the cost of their services. With a sensible approach you will be able to find the ideal class to suit your personal requirements. For more information use your regular search engine to find local company directories, independent teachers and feedback from people who have used these services in the past.
