Quick Facts About An EWC Damper

By Dawn Williams

Climate change have brought undesirable effects in the present time. Commonly observed effects are the longer hot summer months and extended rainy days. These changes gave the heating, ventilation and air conditioning businesses or HVACs a bigger challenge in achieving an overall acceptable conditioning. Airflow regulating devices have been invented as the likes of an EWC damper to answer to the pressing call of a comfortable indoor environment.

A damper generally means a thing that constrains. It is a supply duct opening whose operational definition varies accordingly in the fields of music, engineering and technology. Mechanically, dampers are materials that establish balance between hot and cold temperatures.

Commonly, dampers are available in two different shapes. They may be in rectangular or circular forms. Circles are usually much preferred because they come in different sizes that can fit the ducts of your cooling system. The rectangle ones are likely to be customized because the ducts they fit in are usually unique in size and shape.

An airflow regulator is like a traffic officer. It operates primarily by controlling the amount of draft that goes in and out of rooms and closed spaces. It allows the cooler draft to get in and the warmer gas to get out when it is open to make a warm area cool. It should be close when the temperature gets too low so that warm gases do not escape thereby adjusting circulating air to room temperature. Its visible chamber and lever position allow you to determine if it is closed or not.

A damper can be manual or automatic. Manual ones use a lever to control their open and close functions. Automatic versions are motor operated. It can determine the change in room temperature and adjusts accordingly. This property allows consumers to save in the cost of their electricity without the hassle of constantly checking.

Dampers can be safety devices in limiting diffusion of fire. The concept of letting the draft in supports combustion in household furnaces. Closing the valve inhibits outside wind from getting in which in turn limits the extent and strength of the fire.

Awareness of the duct size matters. It ensures that your duct and regulator fits perfectly. This will facilitate easier installation. There are regulators that are designed for a specific reason. It might be for explosion containment or for smoke dispersion. Knowing what you need will increase your satisfaction.

Common problems that affect your regulator include leakage that leads to overflow and underflow of air. Also the ratio of the zone space and the number of regulators affect the effectiveness of ventilation. Cross contamination of intakes and releases may also prove to be a health hazard.

Constant improvements are done by many engineers in order to limit the problems that can occur in using an EWC damper as well as other airflow regulators manufactured by other companies. New models are inclined on increasing customer satisfaction in controlling the varying temperatures of different zones. The end goal is always for your comfort and convenience.
